Mohammed Shahabuddin is a highly experienced expert in customs, excise, and value-added tax (VAT), with a long and distinguished career in revenue administration in Bangladesh.
Holding an M.Sc. in Psychology (1970), he served in numerous high-level roles within the National Board of Revenue (NBR), including Member (Board Admin) and Commissioner for Customs Houses in Benapole, Rajshahi, and Dhaka (North). Notably, he managed the introduction of ASYCUDA 2.7 at Dhaka Custom House and served as the implementation manager for the World Bank-funded CAM-1 project, which introduced ASYCUDA++ across major custom houses to modernize administration and improve customs law.
His consultancy experience includes working as a National VAT Consultant for the DFID-funded RIRA project and a consultant for the SME Foundation, where he prepared SME-enabled budget proposals and a VAT handbook. Currently, he serves as a facilitator for alternate dispute resolution (ADR) at the NBR and provides freelance consultancy on VAT and customs.
