About Mrinal Sircar

Mrinal Sircar is a senior development professional with over 33 years of experience in private sector development, small and medium enterprise (SME) growth, and market dynamics. Operating in multi-cultural environments across South and Southeast Asia, Africa, and the USA, he has a proven track record of designing and managing large-scale economic initiatives and fostering strategic partnerships among public and private sectors.

His extensive career is highlighted by nearly two decades with the World Bank Group. From 2016 to 2024, he served as a consultant for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), providing strategic advisory for major initiatives like the Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund. Previously, as IFC Program Manager for South Asia (2005–2015), he managed a $25 million sustainable business advisory portfolio and led a multi-million dollar climate change adaptation program.

Prior to his time at the World Bank Group, Mrinal held key leadership positions at major development organizations. He served as the National Program Director for International Development Enterprises (IDE) Bangladesh (2000–2005), leading pro-poor agricultural market and supply chain initiatives. He also served as general manager for the Grameen Bank International Replication Program in 1997, where he monitored 70 microcredit replication projects across 30 countries. 

Mrinal’s core expertise encompasses value chain analysis, project design, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. A skilled trainer, he has facilitated numerous international workshops on business development services (BDS) and completed high-profile consulting assignments for organizations like BRAC, UNDP, and DFID. He holds a B.A. (Honors) and an M.A. in English from the University of Dhaka.
