Md. Mahbubul Alam Shakib is a lecturer in agricultural chemistry at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), Dinajpur, Bangladesh. He possesses a strong academic background and professional expertise in agricultural research, trade facilitation, value chain development, and sustainable agricultural systems. His experience combines academic scholarship with practical engagement in international development initiatives.
Prior to joining HSTU, Shakib served as a research associate with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA)-funded Bangladesh Trade Facilitation (BTF) Project, implemented by Land O’Lakes Venture37, an international nonprofit development organization. In this role, he contributed to initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural exports, strengthening value chains, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and delivering training and capacity-building programs for public and private sector actors.
He played a key role in promoting contract farming and implementing traceability systems for horticultural producers and exporters in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE). Through his academic research and development work, he has developed extensive expertise in agricultural value chains, export competitiveness, sustainable production practices, and multi-stakeholder coordination. His combined academic and field experience enables him to provide evidence-based insights and practical solutions to challenges in the agricultural sector.
